Bioethanol Science and Technology Center

What does CTBE do?

The Brazilian Bioethanol Science and Technology Laboratory (CTBE) is a national laboratory that aims at contributing for the maintenance of Brazilian leadership in the sustainable production of ethanol from sugarcane. To accomplish this goal, the Center invests internally and through strategic partnerships in basic research (science) and technological innovation.

What is the Relevance?

CTBE represents a strong investment of the Brazilian federal government in science and technology related to sugarcane ethanol. It is expected that this Center will gather Brazilian scientific efforts to produce a renewable energy source with high productivity associated to the maximum usage of raw material and sustainability.

What are our Goals?

To study the ethanol production cycle, focused on industrial technologies for cellulosic ethanol. Moreover, the Center intends to help the implementation of no-till farming of sugarcane and create sustainability models for the sector. Finally, a scientific agenda will be developed and operated to solve the challenges of the Brazilian technological agenda.
